"Do not try to satisfy your vanity by teaching a great many things. Awaken people's curiosity. It is enough to open minds, do not overload them. Put there just a spark. If there is some good inflammable stuff, it will catch fire."
Hello to you all. A quick update from the schools. Both Shepherds school and Haradali School are now closed for the first holidays, the children will return to school May 2nd and 3rd. All the boarding children have either gone to a relative or are in foster care for a minimum charge over the holidays. Haradali held a closing party for all the kids, and the ACE children were able to attend this year at the small cost 0f $ 2 each, they had a drink and a snack and participated in sports activities and fun games. Fikiria Kwanza runs a different term system, however they have a week off for the Easter Break . We are making good inroads into our fundraising drive for a vehicle in Arusha, but need some more assistance before we can finally purchase. ACE is desperate for a 4 wheel drive vehicle so that the boarding children can be transported to and from school, supplies and equipment can be purchased and delivered, and the children can be taken on outings to the market for purchases of shoes, clothing and uniforms, as well as medical trips when necessary. Currently ACE uses dala dalas and taxis, which are expensive, dangerous and time consuming when dealing with many children. If you are able to help, or know of anyone who could help with the puchase of a good used vehicle in Arusha, please contact us asap. Advertising on the vehicle is also an option.
Many new sponsors have come on board through March, which is encouraging, as we have also lost some sponsors to this tough economic climate. As always, the priority is
that the children can rest assured that the education they have been promised will continue without interruption. Wishing you all a very Happy Easter, Vinnie
